Inaugural Fresher’s Cricket League 2025: The Historic First Season

History was made on campus as the University Sports Council (USC), under the aegis of the Division of Sports (Student Welfare Wing), successfully organized the Inaugural Fresher’s Cricket League (FCL). Serving as the ultimate debut platform for first-year talent, the tournament kicked off at the Shanti Devi Mittal Indoor Sports Complex with a grand Opening Ceremony graced by Chief Guest Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal (Professor & Executive Dean, Student Welfare Wing, LPU). Six ambitious teams battled fiercely across two groups: Pool A: A++ Squad, Think Big Titans, and DSW Strikers Pool B: Verto Warriors, Transformers XI, and Edurev XI The tournament culminated in an absolute thriller of a Grand Finale between the Verto Warriors and Transformers XI. Setting a gritty target of 71/6 in their 12 overs, the Verto Warriors defended their total in a down-to-the-wire finish, stopping Transformers XI at 69/7 to clinch the historic first-season trophy by just 2 runs! Passion truly met performance in a debut season that has set a magnificent benchmark for campus cricket.
