Scoring Standard

How Points Work

The official scoring system behind the General Sports Championship 2025-26 points table. Every team match, knockout, individual event and esports lobby converts to points for a school — these are the rules.

Team Game Scoring

ResultPoints earned
Win3 + 1 = 4 total
Draw1 + 1 = 2 total
Loss0 + 1 = 1 total
Bye / Walkover received4 pts (counts as a win — structural fairness)
Bye (team absent)0 pts — not present, no points

Knockout Bonus Points

Knockout winBonus
Quarter-final win+1
Semi-final win+2
Final win+3
3rd-place win+1

Awarded for each contested knockout win (never for byes or walkovers), in every team-sport knockout. Bonuses stack on top of the team-game points above.

Individual Sport Scoring

PlacementPoints to school
1st place5 + 1 = 6 total
2nd place3 + 1 = 4 total
3rd place1 + 1 = 2 total
Participated0 + 1 = 1 total
Absent / DNS0 pts — not present, no points

Each athlete earns points for their school. Participation points are uncapped. Medal / placement bonuses are never capped.

Lobby Game Scoring (Esports)

PlacementPoints to school
1st place5 + 1 = 6 total
2nd place3 + 1 = 4 total
3rd place1 + 1 = 2 total
Participated0 + 1 = 1 total
Absent / DNS0 pts — not present, no points

Schools may register multiple entries; points roll up to the parent school. Participation is counted per entry per session and may be capped — medal bonuses never are.

How the Leaderboard Works

A school's total is the sum of everything it earns across the championship:

Team game points + KO bonus + Individual + Lobby

When two schools are level on total points, the tie is broken in order:

  1. Total points
  2. Wins + gold medals
  3. Silver medals
  4. Bronze medals

Schools that remain exactly level share the same rank.
