General Sports Championship 2025–26: Celebrating Our Second Season of Sporting Excellence
The absolute pinnacle of campus athletic rivalry reached its conclusion as the University Sports Council (USC) successfully conducted and managed the General Sports Championship (GSC) 2025–26: University Sports League. Following the monumental success of our debut year, this edition marked our official second season, establishing the GSC as the most anticipated multi-sport tradition on the university calendar.
Operating entirely under the management of the USC and the aegis of the Division of Sports (Student Welfare Wing), the championship kicked off with a breathtaking Opening Ceremony at the Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium. The grand kickoff was graced by Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal (Professor & Executive Dean, DSW), Special Guest Mr. Ruturaj Salunkhe (Founder & Owner, Golazo Football Club), and Chief Guest Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu (Vice Chancellor, LPU), whose presence ignited the champion spirit within our athletes.
Following the live pool draws, 22 school teams fielded their finest athletes to lock horns in intense battles across 7 major sports disciplines:
Cricket: Strategy, precision, and power tested across thrilling pool matches and high-stakes knockout rounds at the Hardaspur Grounds. The School of Computer Science And Engineering (CSE) clinched the category championship, with the School of Physical Education taking Runner-Up and School of Liberal & Creative Arts finishing 2nd Runner-Up. Individual honors included Shubham Tiwari (CSE) as Best Batsman, Prajwal (CSE) as Best Bowler, and Amrit (CSE) as Man of the Tournament.
Badminton: A masterclass of sharp reflexes, intense focus, and strict court control. Mittal School of Business (MSB) emerged as the Champions, defeating CSE (Runner-Up) and School of Physical Education (2nd Runner-Up). Helix (MSB) was named Player of the Tournament (Men) and Ujjwani (MSB) won Player of the Tournament (Women).
Kabaddi: Explosive matches demonstrating incredible speed, courage, and team coordination. The School of Physical Education took First Place, overcoming Mittal School of Business (Runner-Up) and CSE (2nd Runner-Up). Harsh Priya (SPED) secured Best Raider, Raushan Kumar (SPED) won Best Defender, and Ravi Kant (AMS) took home MVP honors.
Football: Displays of lightning pace, technical execution, and tactical teamwork. CSE claimed the final victory over Mittal School of Business (Runner-Up) and School of Agriculture (2nd Runner-Up). Shubham (AGR) won Best Player (Most Goals), Hadhi Hasan EK (SCA) earned Best Goalkeeper, and Harpreet Singh (CSE) was awarded Best Defender.
Powerlifting: An ultimate test of raw strength, grit, and physical endurance where CSE locked down the team championship, ahead of School of Physical Education and School of Agriculture. Sangam Bisht (CSE) was crowned Best Lifter (Men) and Minni (SPED) won Best Lifter (Women).
Esports (BGMI & Real Cricket 26): Mental agility and rapid reaction speeds tested on the digital competitive stage. In BGMI, CSE (Retired Players) grabbed 1st place, while CSE (Paranox) took Runner-Up, and School of Physical Education finished as 2nd Runner-Up. In Real Cricket 26, School of Allied Medical Sciences claimed the apex spot.

After aggregating all tournament and knockout stage performances, the final top-tier standings celebrated the ultimate athletic powerhouses of our second season:
🏆 Overall Champion: School of Computer Science And Engineering (123 Points)
🥈 Runner-Up: School of Physical Education (90 Points)
🥉 2nd Runner-Up: Mittal School of Business (65 Points)
⭐ 4th Position: School of Agriculture (44 Points)
⭐ 5th Position: School of Computer Application (28 Points)
The massive tournament reached a memorable conclusion during a prestigious Closing Ceremony, where Chief Guest Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu alongside Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal honored the relentless spirit and brilliant podium finishes of our athletes. Heartfelt congratulations to all the participating schools, winners, and our dedicated USC organizing committees for making this second season an absolute triumph!
